Can wearing high heels cause sesamoiditis?
Asked 2 years ago
I love wearing high heels, but lately, I've been experiencing pain in the ball of my foot. I did some research and came across sesamoiditis, I'm wondering if my high heels could be the cause of this. I know they're not the most comfortable shoes, but I don't want to give them up if I don't have to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, wearing high heels can increase the risk of developing sesamoiditis. High heels can put excessive pressure on the ball of the foot, leading to overuse and inflammation of the sesamoid bones. It is important to wear shoes with adequate cushioning and support and to avoid heels higher than 2 inches to prevent sesamoiditis.
