Are cold pack treatments bad for a plantar plate tear?

Asked 3 years ago

Hello, my husband injured his foot, and we're waiting for his appointment to go to the doctor. In the meantime, would it be okay to put a cold pack on his foot?

Cole relieves pain and inflammation at the onset of injury and during flareups. You can use a cold pack in the first 24 to 72 hours post-injury or when you first notice swelling and pain around your toes. As a rule of thumb, only use cold if there is active inflammation, but stop if pain increases.
