Can arthritis cause peripheral neuropathy?

Asked 2 years ago

Hey, I have had arthritis in my feet for the past few years and have also recently been experiencing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. Is there a connection between the two conditions and if there are any treatments that can help both? Thanks in advance

Arthritis-related peripheral neuropathy is often related to Rheumatoid arthritis. To address these symptoms, treatment includes drugs (to control inflammation and protect the joints), exercise, well-cushioned shoes, and orthotics. Surgery is indicated only if these non-conservative treatments do not help relieve the symptoms.
