Can tightness in my calves lead to shin pain?
Asked 3 years ago
I am a dancer and my sport usually leads me to have quire tight calves. Recently I have also been experiencing some shin pain, and was wondering if the two are related in any way?

Every mile, your calf muscles elevate your heels to about 1,500 times, while your shins support the arches, raise your toes, and absorb impact. Activities such as dancing and running may cause strained, tight calf muscles and weak shin muscles because the propulsive motion works the back of the leg more than the front. Shin splints, calf muscle pull, stress fractures, and compartment syndrome are common lower-leg injuries in dancing and other related activities.
