Do cortisone shots hurt?
Asked 3 years ago
I am terrified of needles and I don't have a high pain tolerance. Has anyone had a cortisone shot before, and are they painful? Would someone with a low pain tolerance be able to handle it?

Cortisone injections frequently result in a temporary increase in pain and inflammation that can last up to 48 hours after the injection. Your pain and inflammation in the affected joint should subside after that, and this can last for several months. Following a cortisone shot, some people experience redness and warmth in their chest and face. A cortisone shot may temporarily raise your blood sugar levels if you have diabetes. .
