Should my foot hurt after a cortisone shot?

I got a cortisone shot today to help with joint pain and my now foot is burning a bit. Should I be concerned? I thought they were supposed to help with pain, not cause it? Does anyone know if it is normal for my foot to hurt a bit after the shot?

There is no doubt that the Cortisone shot provides relief for a lot of people with joint pain but unfortunately, some people have reactions, and we call it a flare.
Well, there are 2 reasons why it happens:
Firstly, your body reacts to the shot by inflaming or causing pain
Secondly, cortisone makes crystals in the body that irritate the soft tissues and synovial tissue which also cause inflammation.
The best possible treatment is resting the area where the shot has been injected, putting ice packs, and taking anti-inflammatory medication.
