When can I walk after plantar plate surgery?
Asked 3 years ago
Hi, I went to the doctor about 3 months ago about serious pain in my foot, and it turned out that I have got a plantar plate tear. I've been trying orthotics and exercises, but it hasn't made much of a difference. I'm considering booking surgery for this. How long do you reckon it will take before I walk like a normal human again?

Not every orthotic works for plantar plate injury. However, custom orthotics do. Generally, they align your foot, support it, ease discomfort, and prevent future exacerbation. Should you choose to go ahead with surgery, recovery will take about 4-8 weeks, during which you'll need to keep weight off the foot.
