Can certain socks cause hammertoes?
Asked 2 years ago
I've been experiencing pain in my toes lately and I'm wondering if it could be caused by my socks. I've heard that certain types of shoes can contribute to the development of hammertoes. I'm curious if wearing socks that are too tight can cause Hammertoes too. Thank you!

Socks that squeeze the toes together aren't recommended and may cause your hammer toes to get worse. Be sure to pull the sock away from the toes to give them the space before putting your foot in your shoes. Occasionally, if the shoe is too tight already the socks you may be wearing may further reduce the space with the shoes causing your hammer toes to get worse. Occasionally, compression socks are used to treat this condition by supporting the soles of your feet.
