How long does it take for a cortisone shot to kick in?

Asked 4 years ago

I am getting a cortisone shot for my plantar fasciitis. How long will it take before I feel relief from the pain after I take the shot? I hope that it's immediate but I'm sure ill probably need to wait a bit to feel the results. Does anyone have experience with this?

A cortisone shot takes about five days to take effect. You need to be aware that it can cause a flare of pain in the first forty-eight hours. After that, you'll start to really feel the effect. Although temporary, the effect will last between six weeks and six months.
