Do custom orthotics and insoles help with neuropathy?

Asked 3 years ago

I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and experienced a steady increase in numbness and tingling in my feet. Unrelated infections brought me to the hospital where I asked the doctors about the numbness and tingling in my feet and they suggested that it is likely nerve damage in my legs and feet caused by diabetes. So, that being said, are there specific shoe insoles or orthotics for neuropathy that can help me reduce the numbness and discomfort. I'm on medications to ease pain and other symptoms but they don't work as well as I'd like and the doctors suggested looking into custom orthotics or insoles.

In neuropathy it is hard to feel cuts and injuries. in diabetic foot problems, custom orthotics are the best solutions for protection and support. Custom orthotics such as shoe insoles ease pain and symptoms. They cushion, support and reduce pain by stimulating nerves. Wearing custom orthotics also helps isolate damaged nerves and diabetic foot ulcers facilitating healing. Get custom orthotics, you'll feel better.

Orthotics, or custom-made shoe inserts, may also be advised, especially if your feet have grown numb. When you wear shoes, orthotics limit foot mobility, which prevents blisters. In the treatment of systemic diseases such as diabetes, which can cause peripheral neuropathy and make it difficult to feel cuts and infections, proper footwear and orthotic inserts are used to safeguard your feet. Orthotics can aid in the isolation of diabetic foot ulcers, allowing appropriate healing to take place.

By all means, get a custom orthotic. With neuropathy, elevated plantar pressure and longer stance time increase the chances of skin damage and ulceration. Custom orthotics cushion the foot and minimize the stress on the feet, reducing the risk of ulceration. Textured insoles can also provide proprioceptive input and mimic sensory stimulation.
