How long does a grade 3 ankle sprain take to heal?

My ankle is really swollen and I'm in a lot of pain from a grade 3 ankle sprain. Anybody have any idea how long it will take to heal?

Ideally, it will take three to six months to recover from a grade 3 ankle sprain. However, you can fast track the recovery time by intervening early. Early intervention for this sprain will include immobilizing the ankle (using a cast or brace) and RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation).
