Can collagen help an ankle sprain?
Asked 5 years ago
I have just sprained my ankle and really want to be back up and running as soon as possible. I have some collagen tablets laying around and I am curious as to whether these would help with the sprain at all?

Collagen is the most extensively investigated supplement for healing tendons and ligaments. A 2017 study found significant improvements in activity-related joint discomfort in 139 athletes, while another found improvements in ankle pain and function after an ankle sprain. During the 3-month follow-up period, collagen also lowered the likelihood of subsequent sprains.
