Anti-seizure medication for peripheral neuropathy?
Asked 3 years ago
Hello everyone, I have been struggling with diabetic neuropathy for some time now and the pain is just too much to bear. I have heard that anti-seizure medication can work wonders for managing neuropathic pain. Has anyone had any experience with this type of medication for their peripheral neuropathy? I would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences on this topic. Thank you in advance for your help!

There is an interplay of factors that causes neuropathic pain. The anti-seizure medication targets some of these factors. It reduces the hyperexcitability of neurones that causes overactive transmission of pain signals. It also mediates the sodium and calcium channels and helps to alleviate pain. However, before using such a drug, consult with your doctor.
