Is there a correct way to squat which helps to prevent injury?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi guys. I have found myself experiencing lower back pain after squatting while lifting weights, which I think might be because I am not squatting with proper form. Does anybody have any tips on what the correct way is to squat so that I avoid injury? Thanks.

Yes, there's a proper way to squat.

You can go as low as will allow you to maintain a neutral spine position. If you want to squat deep, reduce the weight or frequency of squats to avoid overloading the spine. You can also perform a lumbar extension exercise to return the back to regular position.
