How do I keep my feet from hurting in heels?

Asked 3 years ago

It is a prerequisite that I wear heels while at work. However, these shoes are killing my feet by the end of the day. What can I do to help prevent that from happening?

From what I can understand you love your heels. Here are a few ways to make high heels interesting to wear everyday.

Get the most comfortable high heel you can. While this may seem obvious, consider how many pairs of high heels allow your foot to slip forward, leaving a gap large enough for a small cell phone behind your heel. To solve the problem, look for narrow heels that are snug but not too tight.

Cushion, cushion, cushion! While a full-shoe insert can assist, invest in metatarsal pads if you have pain in the ball of your foot or will be standing in your heels for a long time. They resemble flattened gummy bears, but they are excellent shock absorbers. It's the equivalent of replenishing the fat padding that you've lost.

Pay attention to the heel's "slope" or "pitch." Some 4-inch heels have a direct drop to the flatbed area of the shoe, while others have a more gradual slope. T his may be easier on the arch and may help ease pain in the ball of the foot. To ease strain on corns and calluses, wear high heels with an open toe. Choose open-toe heel-shoes to relieve pressure on inflammatory areas.
