How long before a steroid injection in the foot kicks in?
Asked 4 years ago
I got my steroid injection yesterday, but the pain in my feet is just as bad now as it was before the shot. It doesn't really feel like it has done anything. Does anyone know how long it is supposed to take for it to work?

A cortisone shot usually takes 2-5 days to start working. However, we recommend leaving about a week before an event to allow the cortisone shot to take effect. You should also be aware that cortisone can trigger a pain flare-up in the first few days. Following that, the pain reduces, depending on how quickly the inflammation subsides.
