Why do the arches of my feet hurt when I am weightlifting?

Asked 3 years ago

I have noticed that when I am at the gym and I lift weights, the arches of my feet begin to hurt. Does anyone know why this happens? I am not lifting any more than I can handle, but it still hurts my arches.

Weightlifting might put additional strain on the fascia. Tiny tears can also happen, causing irritation, inflammation, and pain. This is related to overuse of muscles, which means they are unable or unequipped to absorb the shock caused by excessive lifting. Exhausted muscles apply pressure to fasciae and bones, among other structures that leads to stress injuries.

When weightlifting, I recommend getting good-fitting shoes with a custom made arch support to distribute pressure evenly. Consequently, curb you weightlifting enthusiasm to allow time for healing.

Weightlifting can cause your arches to hurt because you are overloading the muscles. It may also be because of poor technique and lack of proper shock-absorbent footwear. When next you want to lift weights, ensure you use the appropriate weight lifting technique and wear shoes with proper heel support.
