Extra shoe inserts are used by those with high arches for support, however they cause the feet and shoes to "roll out." This can lead to knee pain as well as compensatory movements elsewhere in the body. However, inadequate foot arch support can cause abnormal tension on the knee and hip, resulting in discomfort and pain in these joints as well.
There needs to be balance when selecting orthotics for a specific foot. Individuals with flat feet or low arches are unable to use the same arch support as those with high arches. To recreate your arch and support your feet, you'll need supportive footwear and orthotics. Customized insoles can be worn in your favorite shoes to prevent long-term compensatory joint problems.

Arch supports help to realign the foot into natural positions for effective weight-bearing. Too much arch support will make the foot arch take an unnaturally high position. The result will be knee malalignment, leading to knee pain. Thus, it is best to tailor the design of your arch support to your need.
