How do you stretch the inside of your ankle?
Asked 3 years ago
I have posterior tibial tendonitis that is causing my ankle to stiffen. Are there any recommended exercises I can do that will help this tendon and prevent it from locking up?

Firstly, with one hand, grab the heel of your foot, while the other grasps your toes. Pull your toes back and outward with one hand while pulling your heel (towards your body) with the other. A stretch should be felt along the bottom of your foot that might relieve ankle pain.
Hold the position for 15 to 30 seconds.
Other stretches to consider are:
- The runner’s stretch
- The eversion stretch with towel
- Stretching of the anterior tibialis
Stretches should be held for 20 to 30 seconds before being withdrawn. They can be done multiple times during the day.
Stretching can also be accomplished by running or walking as tolerated.
