How do I choose the best over-the-counter orthotics?
Asked 3 years ago
I feel like my feet have gotten worse as I've aged and now need extra support. What are the key things I must keep in mind when buying orthotics in a store? How do I know that the orthotic I'm choosing is the right one?

- To get your orthotics fitted, wear your favorite shoes.
- Know what kind of deformity foot you have and how bad it is.
- Consider the activities for which you require orthotics.
- Seek expert help or a prescription if necessary.
- Get personalized orthotics that are made specifically for your foot.
Choose ones made of plastic polymer or hard plastic since they are more sturdy and provide more support underfoot. Another alternative is to use a moldable insole, which combines the benefits of both over-the-counter and custom-fit orthotics. These allow you to use heat to sculpt the exact shape of your foot.
